Building Community, Chinatown Style

Lunchtime Forum

Over the last 50 years, San Francisco’s Chinatown has been a place where civic leadership has been nurtured, attracted and cultivated. The new book, Building Community, Chinatown Style tells the story of generations of young activist leaders who have transformed San Francisco Chinatown for the better — despite facing challenges of a shifting neighborhood identity — and the importance of “place-based” community development organizations in the building of healthy neighborhoods.
