The Revival of the Strand Theater

Tour

Image courtesy of the American Conservatory Theater

Initially opened in 1917, the Strand Theater slowly decayed as it continued to change ownership until it was shut down by the city of San Francisco in 2003. Nine years later, the American Conservatory Theater announced plans to reopen the theater as a 300-seat live theater. Join us for an exciting tour of the Strand Theater as we envision the rebirth of a once-great hallmark for the Central Market Neighborhood.
